Competitive Teams
Greenwin Tennis Club has a proud tradition of
competitive team play. Doubles Teams play both home and away games
throughout the GTA. There are Ladies’, Men’s and Mixed
Teams which play at different times:
- Ladies Teams play during
the daytime in the fall/winter season
- Men’s Teams play Sunday
nights
- Mixed Teams play on Saturday
afternoons.
If you are interested in competitive teams,
please speak to the Head Professional regarding tryouts. Team
Practices are a necessary part of playing/participating on Teams.
Club Tournaments
Each
year one of Greenwin Tennis Club’s biggest events is the Club
Championships. There’s a division for every level of player
in each of the following events:
- Men’s and Ladies’ singles
- Men’s and Ladies’ doubles
- Mixed doubles.
Bragging rights are on the line! In addition we hold smaller one day
tournaments in the winter and the summer! It doesn’t matter
what your level is…it’s the fun of the competition!
Social Events
With our great members’ lounge and, in
the summer, a courtside patio, our social events are a vibrant
part of the Club calendar.
Perhaps
our biggest and most popular event is the Davis Cup!
Members are assigned to a Coach, with each Coach choosing a country
to be represented. Team members dress in the national colours for
the country they represent and bring a native dish for the luncheon.
Sometimes we make teams sing the national anthem in the official
language and dance the national dance…but that’s only
after a few drinks and more for the entertainment value!
There are many more fun and exciting events throughout the year
and all levels of players are encouraged and welcomed to participate!
